After spending hours researching different real estate and travel sites, I have picked up some very targeted information about what website visitors look for in accommodation and property listing photos. This year, I will be relaying these some of these facts and figures to you through this blog.

Here is a really interesting tidbit I recently found:

AirBnB Visitors Read Photo Captions More Than Listings.

According to this recent article in New York Mag about AirBnB,

"The first photo in your listing is the most important — it's the thumbnail that shows up in search. So be sure the photographer gets at least one wide-angle shot that really gives a good sense of what your place looks like, without forcing users to browse through a ton of close-up shots of each individual room."

While this information seems pretty par for the course, the quote below really stood out to me:

"And don’t neglect your photo captionswhich are arguably the most important piece of text in your entire listing.

People read photo captions more than they read the listing, so put the most important information in them,” says Chip Conley, Airbnb’s head of global hospitality."

Use high quality photos for your listings and remember to add captions.

Yes, it might seem like a pain to have to add captions to each of your photos; however, based on the information above, this is something you should take the time to do when listing your property on Simply Beachfront. While AirBnB is a strictly vacation rental site, I strongly believe that this practice can be implemented by all accommodation providers on many property listing sites.

Adding captions is an easy way to immediately improve your online listings

(..and it's free).

DID YOU KNOW?
You can add a photo title & an extended description for every photo on Simply Beachfront!

If you are not hiring a professional photographer already, here are some other tips on photo taking from AirBnB.

I am hoping to pull out my own camera and take an online photography course myself this year, so I will keep you updated on how that goes!

Note:  If you try this out, please feel free to report back to me with any feedback you have on the results.
